(Persia Digest) – Asghar Farhadi’s latest film “Everybody Knows” will open the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. It has already been presold to over 20 countries by Memento Pictures.
As reported by Variety, Memento Pictures will screen the movie on 9 May, a day after the Cannes Festival opening, in 350 cinema theaters in France. Universal Pictures will follow suit in September in Spain.
The Spanish language film “Everybody Knows” has already been sold to Germany, Austria, Japan, China, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Argentina, Slovakia, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, Serbia, Russia, the Baltic States, Scandinavia, and Latin America. French producer Alexandre Mallet-Guy from Memento Pictures also cooperated with Farhadi on his previous movies “The Salesman” and “The Past”. He is the international distributor of “Everybody Knows”, which he has called his most ambitious project, saying: “This is not only an engaging thriller with twists, but it has a great cast of stars with Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem, and Ricardo Darin. This is a juxtaposition of suspense and feelings with a powerful narration which will undoubtedly pull the largest crowds for a Farhadi film yet.”
