(Persia Digest) - The Beijing Film Festival will open today, and "Searing Summer" and "The Home" from Iran will be featured in the competition section and the first films competition section of the event respectively.
15 feature films from around the world will be screened in the competition section of the 8th Beijing International Film Festival, one of which is "Searing Summer" by Ibrahim Irajzad. The 2017 film is based on a script by Payam Karami and produced by Javad Norouzbeigi. "Searing Summer", featuring Ali Mosafa and Parinaz Izadyar, is about a woman who cannot take custody of her six-year-old daughter after divorce, so she moves out without telling her husband and takes refuge in a corner of the city.
In the competition section of the festival, 2 films from China and 13 films from all over the world, selected from among 659 participants from 71 countries, will compete to receive the Tiantan award.
The other representative of Iran in this edition is "The Home" by Asghar Yousefinejad which will be featured in the first films competition section titled “Future Forward." This film was screened at the Art and Experience cinemas in Iran.
Hong Kong's renowned filmmaker, Wong Kar-wai as the festival’s president of the jury this year will announce 10 Tiantan award winners in the last day of the festival.
The 8th Beijing International Film Festival will be held from 15 April to 22 April in Beijing.
