(Persia Digest) – The Kiarostami Foundation has been set up by Ahmad Kiarostami in the US.
Its job is to supervise and publish the cinematic and artistic works of the late Iranian filmmaker, Abbas Kiarostami. The Foundation has been established by his eldest son who is a US resident. Ahmad Kiarostami is Chairman of the BoD. The Board is comprised of renowned cinematographers worldwide, such as Tom Luddy (producers and Telluride Film Festival founder), Shirin Neshat (contemporary Iranian photographers and filmmaker), Marin Karmitz (French producer and MK2 Studio CEO), Peter Becker (Janus Films CEO), Richard Linklater (US producer), Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (US-Mexican producer).
The tasks of the Foundation include the collection, archiving, and recovery of photos, films, and writings by Abbas Kiarostami and the completion of his unfinished works due to his sudden demise, such as the screening of the shorts “24 Frames” and “Take me home”. These are currently being shown at the Art & Experience group of cinemas. Other tasks include the exhibition of photographs by Kiarostami, a part of which is showcased at the Louvre in Tehran exhibition in the National Museum of Iran, titled “My photos and Monet”. Last but not least, new projects will be initiated based on Kiarostami’s works.
