(Persia Digest) – The Head of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of Iran, Ali-Asghar Munesan, announced the launch of a TV network for tourism in Iran, the practicality of which remains to be seen.
A TV channel for tourism can have a huge impact on tourism in Iran – an event for which Munesan has expressed hope will happen.
In a detailed interview with IRNA, Munesan spoke of the MoU with IRIB, saying: “We have reached an understanding with IRIB to launch a tourism channel on TV. If all goes well, this will be a lasting work. The overall project has been accepted by the Head of IRIB (Abdol-Ali Askari). We will start with two to three hours of broadcasting and advertising for tourism in Iran on one of IRIB’s TV channels. If the feedback is positive, that channel will be dedicated entirely to tourism programs. We will start broadcasts in Persian for our domestic tourists. Other languages will be added gradually.”
He continued: “This huge project needs funding and technical backing. But the opportunities are there. If we are able to pursue our objectives for tourism through this network, we can earn our funding bot with ads and also by offering the best services for tourism and generating income through the industry.”
