(Persia Digest) – A Hafiz Centre is scheduled to be inaugurated in Peshawar, Pakistan. The Head of the Iran Cultural Center in Peshawar and the President of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University have reached an agreement to set up a “Hafiz Gosha” for Hafiz studies at the University.
A “Hafiz Gosha” has already started work at The National Book Foundation of Pakistan with the aim of introducing further this renowned Persian poet. A “Sa’di Shirazi Gosha” is also working at the Pakistan Study Center - University of Peshawar.
IRNA reports that Abbas Famouri, the Head of the Iran Cultural Center in Peshawar, and Razia Sultana, President of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University, have discussed the setup of a “Hafiz Gosha” in the University’s central library and signed an MoU to expand cultural ties between the two countries. “Gosha” in Urdu means a “corner” or seat of learning at a university or cultural center for introducing famous literary personalities.
Razia Sultana also supported the deepening of cultural ties between Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University and Al Zahra University for women in Tehran with the signature of an MoU.
She added: “We have been working on a regular basis with the Iranian Cultural Center in Peshawar who have provided Persian literature professors for the Faculty of Literature at the University. We are now ready to sign and MoU for the “Hafiz Ghosha” at the University’s central library and begin work.”
