In the last match of the round of 16, England defeated Colombia 3-4 in spot kicks last night, and after four editions, they joined the eight top teams of the World Cup. Harry Kane scored for England and Yerry Mina for Colombia and this result remained till the end of the 120 minutes. In the penalty shoot-out, the Three Lions defeated Colombia 4-3 with their goalkeeper’s excellent performance and reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup after 12 years. In the other match last night, Sweden beat Switzerland 1-0 to reach the quarter-finals. Emil Forsberg scored Sweden’s only goal in the 66th minute.
The quarter-finals, will start on Friday, 6 July, with two matches. According to schedule, Uruguay will face France and Brazil with play against Belgium. On Saturday, Sweden and Russia will face England and Croatia respectively.
