Persia Digest) - According to the latest report by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) which ranks countries on the Global Innovation Index, Iran climbed up 10 steps in the New Year.
According to the Global Innovation Index in 2018, Iran has hit 65th place in 2018, showing a significant jump from its 75th place in 2017. This is while Iran's ranking in the index was 106 in 2015.
The Global Innovation Index is the name of a report that is released by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) every year, and it rates country rankings in terms of innovation.
Iran owes its considerable growth to various dimensions such as outputs of knowledge and technology (from 90 in 2015 to 41 in 2018), and outputs of creativity (from 116 in 2015 to 59 in 2018). Undoubtedly, development of the ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship and also development of active startups in various economic sectors have had a prominent role in promoting the considerable growth of the country.
According to the World Intellectual Property Organization's 2018 report, Iran has experienced one of the highest growth rates with its 10-step growth among its peer countries. It is interesting to know that Iran’s ranking in Innovation Efficiency Ratio has gone from 56 in 2017 to 11 in 2018.
According to the report, Iran stood at the 16th place among the 34 upper-middle-income countries and ranked second among the ning central and southwest Asian countries.
