(Persia Digest) – With over 25 thousand 500 documents registered in the ISI database, Iran has taken its place among the top 15 countries for the first time for scientific citations.
The US with 322 thousand 20, China with 216 thousand 893, the UK with 83 thousand 322, Germany with 74 thousand 219, and India with 54 thousand 764 documents have been indexed in WOS, to take 1st to 5th place respectively.
The Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) says that Iran ranks first in scientific papers in the Islamic world with over 22 percent of the total production for this region.
An analysis of WOS indicates that Iran accounted for 22.3% of the largest share of scientific production in the first six months of 2018 among 57 Islamic countries.
Turkey with 16.2 percent, Saudi Arabia with 8.4 percent, Malaysia with 7.8 percent, and Egypt with 7.5 percent rank 2nd to 5th in the world respectively.
Iranian scientists in engineering and chemistry have the most share with 53.8 percent of the citations for the first half of 2018.
