(Persia Digest) – On the proposal of Iran’s FM and approval of the President, the second woman ambassador in the history of the Islamic Republic of Iran has been appointed.

Persia Digest reports that Parvin Farshchi is Iran’s new ambassador to Finland. Her previous post was at the Environmental Protection Agency’s Marine Department.

The IR of Iran’s first female ambassador after the 1979 revolution is Marzieh Afkham who has been posted to Malaysia since 2015.

In recent years, Iranian women have been able to climb up the ladder of cabinet and government posts, including that of MPs. Also, girls form the majority of state university students in Iran.
