(Persia Digest) – Unhappy with his explanations, the Members of Parliament at Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly voted for the impeachment of Ali Rabiei, Iran’s Minster of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare.

Persia Digest reports that today’s open session headed by Speaker Ali Larijani took place with the impeachment of the Minister of Labor.

There was a tense 30 minutes of interruptions and talk of canceling the impeachment. The pro-impeachment side eventually held their own and the MPs questioned the Minister.

Their main concerns were voiced as the unemployment rates among the young, unfavorable conditions for workers, and social security issues. Rabiei answered the questions in the time he was allocated.

The MPs votes resulted in 129 members for, 111 against, and 3 abstentions. Ali Rabiei was thus dismissed from his ministerial post.
