‘Hezar Afsan’ nominated for the Calcutta International Cult Film Festival
‘Hezar Afsan’, an Iranian animation that tells selected stories from the Shahnameh, has been nominated for the Best Animation section of this international film festival. It is in several parts and has a free expression of Shahnameh stories. It has been nominated for Best Animation at the CICFF.
Abbas Jalali-Yekta and Asghar Saffar have directed the animation and Afsaneh Bakhshi is the scriptwriter.
‘Raftan’ wins Swedish Film Festival award
‘Raftan’ produced by Jamshid Mahmudi and directed by Navid Mahmudi has been awarded the feature length film award of the Afghanistan Film Festival in Sweden. This a mutual production of Iran and Afghanistan. As the representative of Afghanistan's cinema, it has been nominated for the Oscar of best foreign film.
It has already won a number of important international awards over the past year, including the Busan Film Festival best director award, best actress award for Fereshteh Hosseini at the Marrakesh International Film Festival, and best movie at the Tripoli Film Festival.
Six films from Iran at the Busan Film Festival
The 22nd Busan Film Festival in South Korea is hosting six films from Iran in various sections. This year, ‘Sadd-e Ma’bar’ directed by Mohsen Gharaei is present in the New Currents section of the Festival.
There are also three films from Iran in the ‘Window on Asian Cinema’ section, including ‘Beyond the Clouds’ directed by Majid Majidi, ‘No Date, No Signature’ by Vahid Jalilvand, and ‘Lord’ by Mohammad Rasoulof. The ‘Wide Angle’ section is hosting the short films ‘The Road’ by Arash Khayattan and ‘Negah’ by Farnush Samadi.
The 22nd Busan Film Festival in South Korea will run from 12-21 October 2017.
India ab Awards 2017
The "Focus" photo club, as the representative of the International Federation of Art Photography (FIAP) in Iran, was named the best club participating in the 2017 ab Awards.
The festival also awarded the Chairman Choice prize to the ‘Lake’ by Mikael Bayazidi of Iran.
The festival was organized by FIAP and 40 photographs by ‘Focus’ photographers from Iran were admitted in all. These include Amin Abbas, Sudabeh Vatanparast, Evin Abbasi, Mahdi Rahmani, Soheil Zandazar, Arash Mahdavi, Saeid Abdollahi, Loghman Bayazidi, Amir-Ali Navadeh Shahla, Ali Hanaei, Amir Nazari, and Reyhaneh Shadab Joposhti.
