(Persia Digest) – Sohrab Moradi has won gold at the 2018 Asian Games in the 94kgs weightlifting category with a snatch lift.

Moradi’s first move was a snatch in the 182kgs category, followed by a second snatch in the 189kgs category to beat the world record, but he dropped it. He succeeded in his third attempt to beat the world record.

Moradi proceeded to the 221kgs clean and jerk move. He chose the 234kgs category of clean and jerk next, for which he is the world record holder, but did not succeed. He still managed to win the gold medal with a total of 410kgs in the games.

Currently, Moradi is the record holder for the snatch 189kgs, clean and jerk 233kgs, and a total of 417kgs in the 94kgs world category.

He has the 2016 Rio Olympics gold, the 2017 World Championships gold, and the Asian Weightlifting Championships gold in his portfolio. He has now added the Asian Games 2018 gold medal to his collection.

Moradi’s gold brings the total number of gold medals for the Iranian contingency at the Asian Games in Jakarta to 13. As of now, Iran has also won 11 silver and 8 bronze medals.
