(Persia Digest) - Te 75th Venice International Film Festival will start today, Wednesday, in Venice. Two movies from Iran called “As I lay dying” by Mostafa Sayari, and “Staircase” by Mohsen Banihashemi will also be screened at the Festival. Both will be shown in the Horizons category.

“As I lay dying” is Sayari’s first movie. The synopsis is about an individual who is shunned by others.

The short film “Staircase” narrates the story of two women confronting one another over the ownership of a property, placing then in a particular situation.

Iranian actress, Fatemeh Motamed-Aria, is on the panel of the Horizons judges at the 75th Venice International Film Festival. Iranian-American cinematographer, Ramin Bohrani, is also on the panel of judges for the first part of the Festival.

“Staircase” and “As I lay dying” are two shorts that will be screened tomorrow, Thursday, respectively at 14h30 and 16h30 local time.

The feature “No date, no signature” by Mohammad Jalilvand was screened in last year’s 74th Venice International Film Festival in the Horizons section. Navid Mohammadzadeh received the Best Actor Award for starring in the film. Vahid Jalilvand was also awarded Best Director.
