(Persia Digest) – Iran’s Foreign Minister, Javad Zarif, has arrived in Damascus today for talks with Syrian officials.
He was met by the Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal al Mekdad and the Iranian Ambassador at Damascus International Airport.
Heading a political delegation, Zarif’s visit takes place at the official invitation of Walid Moalem, the Syrian Foreign Minister, for talks with his counterpart, the Syrian President, Bashar Al Assad, and Imad Khamis, the Syrian Prime Minister, on the latest developments in this country and bilateral ties.
This is Zarif’s second trip to Syria as Iran’s top diplomat just prior to the trilateral talks between Iran, Russia, and Turkey on Syria scheduled to take place in Tehran.
