(Persia Digest) – The Civil Aviation Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran (CAO.IRI) has responded to warnings by The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States about crossing Iranian airspace, announcing: “The Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) magnified by Western media recently was issued for 2017.”

CAO PR Officer, Reza Jafarzadeh, said: “The media must not take this seriously. There is maximum interaction between military and civilian section authrities regarding the safe passage of airplanes from the Iranian sky and this NOTAM is for internal circulation only. These notices have been issued by the FAA for other countries before.”

He added: “There are multiple factors in selecting a route for transit flights through a country’s airspace, such as pollution and using less fuel, economic reasons, and service and safety. Iran provides all these services.”

Jafarzadeh reiterated: “Magnifying security issues in Western media will have no impact on flights in Iranian airspace. It is best not to create unnecessary tensions for the public.”
