(Persia Digest) – A small group of opponents to Iran joining the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009 (AML/CFT Act), including member of the conservative wing (Paydari), gathered outside the Iranian Parliament on Sunday.
About 200 demonstrators holding placards saying “Ratification of CFT is the enemy’s wish,” “Don’t associate with the enemy MPs,” and “Please don’t rush to ratify the FATF” have been standing outside the Parliament since this morning.
They also shouted slogans of death to America and death to Israel, claiming that the ratification of the bill would betray the ideals of the revolution, cause the collapse of the economy, and go against the orders of the Supreme Leader.
Conservative MPs taking part in the protest are Nasrollah Pejmanfar, Ahmad Salek, Javad Karimi-Ghodousi, Mohammad Dehghan, and Ahad Azadikhah who are currently giving speeches outside the Parliament.
The CFT act waiting to be ratified by Parliament is one of four FATF laws being discussed today.
