(Persia Digest) – In response to US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, announcing “We will terminate 1955 Treaty with Iran”, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif tweeted: “US abrogated JCPOA - a multilateral accord enshrined in UNSC Resolution 2231- arguing that it seeks a bilateral treaty with #Iran. Today US withdrew from an actual US-Iran treaty after the ICJ ordered it to stop violating that treaty in sanctioning Iranian people. Outlaw regime.”

Persia Digest (PD) reports that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) announced yesterday, Wednesday, that it had jurisdiction over the Iran-US sanctions case which abrogated the 1955 Treaty of Amity signed between the two countries. Concurrently, it ordered America to lift some sanctions imposed on Iran for humanitarian reasons, including medicine, food and agriculture, and spare parts for civil aviation.
