(Persia Digest) – The Spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry has said that the sanctions imposed on Iranian companies by the US are part of a psychological warfare, adding: “This is a clear insult to legal and international mechanisms by the US which arises from the blind selfishness and malice of the American administration with the Iranian nation.”
Bahram Ghasemi added: “Unlike its hypocritical claims to support the Iranian people, the US is creating obstacles for them to benefit from economic and commercial ties with the international community. Unjustly and contrary to international human rights and humanitarian laws, it threatens their interests; but, of course, it will not succeed.”
He pointed to the recent preliminary ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordering the US to refrain from adding to animosities and making it more difficult to resolve issues, saying: “The attitude of the US administration and its failure to adhere to international mechanisms, rules, and international laws threatens not only the interests of the Iranian people but also the stability and security of the world.”
Persia Digest reports that the US Treasury Department placed the names of more Iranian banks and large companies on the list of its sanctions yesterday, Tuesday, under the pretext of anti-terrorism sanctions.
