(Persia Digest) – The South Korean Ambassador to Iran has spoken about the close political ties between the two countries, saying: “Tough sanctions have been reimposed on Iran, but South Korea has been exempted from these and we can fight these together to overcome them.”

Speaking at the 63rd Islamic City Council meeting in Rasht, capital of Guilan Province, Yo Jang Hyan said: “Iran is very interested in expanding ties with Iran.”

He pointed out that his country can assist Iran with environmental issues, adding: “Rasht is a city rich in culture and we can use this for exchanges between our two countries.”

He continued by saying that Guilan Province in northern Iran has many reputed tea plantations that he has heard about, and added: “The people of Rasht are very hospitable.”
