(Persia Digest) – The Science and Technology Vice President of Iran has announced: “Iran has overtaken Turkey and Israel in stem cell science and technology.”

Surena Sattari pointed to 3700 knowledge-based companies in Iran, adding: “Some of these have been able to start exports.”

Speaking about Iran's stem cell status in the world, he reiterated: “Based on published reports, Iran ranks 14th worldwide in scientific articles on this subject. The number of registered patents is also increasing.”

He also pointed out to the number of knowledge-based companies in this sector, adding: “Currently, 120 companies are working in this field. Out of these, 80 are knowledge-based and some have also marketed cell therapy products.”

Sattari reiterated: “This means we have taken over Turkey and Israel in stem cell science and technology.”
