(Persia Digest) – Lawyer of Mohammad Bagher and Siamak Namazi said: “The case of Mr Siamak Namazi has been petitioned for retrial in Branch 33 of Iran’s Supreme Court. Since he is still in custody, his case has been referred to the Branch out of turn for investigation. However, the website indicates that the petition has been rejected.”

Noting that Siamak is serving his sentence, Mehrdad Ghorbani said: “His term is 10 years and no bail or prison leave have been set yet.”

Ghorbani added that Siamak’s father, Mohammad-Bagher, is severely sick due to his old age and “is sent to forensic medicine every one or two months. The forensic medicine has confirmed that he has to be hospitalized, but he is still at home.”

Asked by the Iranian Labour News Agency (ILNA) if the time Mohammad-Bagher Namazi is spending at home will be regarded as his term in prison, the lawyer said: “Apparently, it is not considered part of his sentence but is considered as a leave from prison.”
