The Head of the National Security Commission of Iran’s Parliament underlined that Mrs Hashemi was arrested on the illegal orders of the person of Trump, reiterating: “A country who has always claimed to support democracy and freedom of speech has arrested a perfectly lawful professional reporter simply on the orders of its president.”

Falahatpisheh stated that this shows the political realities of the US, adding: “The IR of Iran will certainly pursue the matter in international circles and officially through public diplomacy. In contrast to US claims, it is always Iranians who are the victims of American double standards.”
