(Persia Digest) – Following the rejection of his resignation by the President, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Javad Zarif, attended the welcoming ceremony of the Prime Minister of Armenia this morning.

Zarif tendered his resignation Monday night in a post on Instagram. This was met with widespread reactions in Iran and abroad.

Iran’s President turned down Zarif’s resignation in a letter today.

Following the publication of the letter, Zarif wrote on Instagram: “I have never had any other concerns other than the enhancement of our foreign policy and the credibility of the Foreign Ministry as the person responsible at the forefront of defending the national interests and rights of the noble people of Iran in the international arena.” He thanked the people and Iranian elite for their support and kind thoughts, emphasizing: “I hope that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can carry out all its responsibilities within the framework of the Constitution, the laws of the country, and the general policies of the establishment with authority and the cooperation of all under the supervision of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the President.”

Zarif proceeded to attend the welcoming ceremony of the Armenian Prime Minister this morning.

The Armenian Prime Minister’s trip is taking place at the official invitation of the IR of Iran. Prior to his trip to Iran, Nikol Pashinyan said: “This trip can lead to the expansion of ties with regard to the common culture of Iran and Armenia and the facilities at their disposal.”
