(Persia Digest) – The CEO of the Performing Arts in Iran has announced that traveling theater troupes will soon leave for flood damaged areas to help cheer up the residents, especially the children, who have been caught up in the disaster.

Shahram Akrami said: “It is important to keep up the spirits of those who have suffered, especially the children.”

He emphasized: “Once suitable accommodation has been established, traveling troupes will be leaving for these areas.”

Following flash floods across Iran, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Iran sent a memo to all its provincial offices to produce plays and cultural events for the entertainment of people who have suffered in the crisis.

Persia Digest (PD) has been reporting on the torrential rains over the past week leading to flash floods in a number of provinces in Iran. This has caused great damage and taken many lives. In Shiraz alone, in southern Iran, sudden flash floods took the lives of 19 people yesterday.
