(Persia Digest) – Iranians saw more movies during the Nowruz holidays this year that at any other time.

Persia Digest (PD) reports that total box office sales from 15 March – 9 April 2019 totaled over 40BN tomans (USD 3MM). The number of movie goers is said to have exceeded 2MM and 900 thousand, showing an increase in the number of audiences and ticket sales YOY.

Nowruz is a peak season for screening new movies in Iran when people have more time during the official New Year holidays.

Considering the statistics, it seems the torrential rains were an intensive to spend a few more hours at the movies during the holidays.
