(Persia Digest) – The Met Office in Iran has forecast more rain coming into the country from the northwest and south from tomorrow 11 April. It has issued warnings about new floods hitting Iran.
Unprecedented rains have caused floods in a number of Iranian provinces over the past months and the trend continues.
People in 400 cities and villages in 15 provinces including Lorestan, Khuzestan, Golestan, Mazandaran, Kermanshah, Hamedan… are still stuck in floods and mud inundating their homes and communities.
As authorities endeavor to normalize the situation, forecasts indicate a new wave of torrential rains and the possibility of more floods in Iran as from tomorrow.
Precipitation will increase in most areas from Saturday, especially in the norther and southern foothills of the Alborz and Zagros mountain chains and the southern strip. Flash floods are expected in northern Iran, especially in Golestan Province.
Recent floods across Iran have so far taken 77 lives, injured thousands, and caused millions of dollars of damages.
