Persia Digest (PD) reports that al-Hashd al-Sha'abi is the name of the Iraqi people’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) which was formed following the invasion of Daesh terrorists and a fatwa issued by the Shia Ulema, and in particular Ayatollah Sistani, on the need to combat terrorism. Al-Hashd al-Sha'abi has been working closely with Iran’s Qods Force in fighting Daesh.
Remarks made by al-Muhandis on the Iraqi people owing to Iranians points to this cooperation and help given by Iranian forces to the Iraqi people to fight and defeat Daesh terrorists in this country.
The conservative Tehran newspaper, Kayhan, cited the presence of non-Iranian forces in flood-hit areas to be on the invitation of the IRGC Qods Force, and wrote: “Following an invitation extended by Major General Soleimani to help flood victims, defenders of Sayidda Zeinab Shrine ranging from al-Hashd al-Sha'abi in Iraq to the Fatemioun Division in Afghanistan rushed to help Iran with their services by forming jihadi camps.”
Al-Hashd al-Sha'abi has announced that it will repair damaged schools, mosques, and roads during its stay in Iran and provide basic data-x-items for the people.
