(Persia Digest) – Simultaneously with approving the general outline of the bill called “Reciprocal action against the designation of the IRGC as a terrorist organization by the US” at the Iranian Parliament, the Head of Iran's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Parliament, Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh, said there are no plans to close the Strait of Hormuz or militarize the country.
Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh tweeted: “Details of the reciprocal bill will be set out next week. Extreme suggestions not functional, but some magnify issues looking for tensions. Will not close Strait of Hormuz or militarize the country. Parliament is alert.”
Persia Digest (PD) reports that the US officially placed the IRGC on its list of “Foreign Terrorist Organizations” on Monday.
In return, the Iranian Parliament with 206 voting MPs approved the general outline of a bill to reciprocate with 204 votes for and 2 against, with no abstentions.
Article one of the urgency statute provided that “Under the law, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) and the organizations or institutions under the command are declared terrorists.”
Details of the bill will be outlined in Parliament next week.
