(Persia Digest) – The 32nd Tehran International Book Fair opening ceremony was held in Tehran on Tuesday at Imam Khomeini Mosalla by the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Iran and the Minister of Culture and Tourism of China and its cultural representatives.
It was planned for President Rouhani to attend the ceremony; but an announcement last night said that he was unable to do so due to unforeseen circumstances.
The organizer of the 32nd Tehran International Book Fair said at the ceremony: “The fair is a step towards strengthening Iran’s friendship with the peoples of the world. We welcome Iran’s largest cultural event this year with the slogan “Reading is achieving”.
Mohsen Javadi added: “This year, 2400 Iranian publishers with 300 thousand titles and 800 foreign publishers with 140 thousand titles have participated at the fair.”
He expressed hope: “Through the exhibition, we will consolidate the deep link between governments and nations and lasting friendships. The presence of China as a special guest is a sign of the restoration of the Silk Road through book reading.”
Persia Digest (PD) reports that the 32nd Tehran International Book Fair will run from 24 April to 4 May 2019, promoting “Reading is achieving”, at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla.
