(Persia Digest) - A conference was held in Baghdad to express gratitude to Iran simultaneously with the anniversary of the establishment of Hasad al-Shaabi or the Popular Mobilization Forces of Iraq.
The event was held with the motto of 'Our Blood is One' to appreciate Iran's role in dismantling Daesh terrorist groups.
Hosted by Hashd al-Shaabi, a number of the Iranian and Iraqi security, military and political officials participated in the gathering.
The messages by Iraqi President Barham Salih and Prime Minister Adil al-Mahdi were read out at the meeting.
Addressing the audience, Abu Mahdi Mohandess, deputy chief of Hashd al-Shaabi said: "The Islamic Republic of Iran responded to our demands quickly and opened its arsenal depots to us. At a time when we had no ammunition for our arms and warplanes, Iran's missiles and Sukhoi jet fighters caused a great upheaval in the fight (against Daesh)."
Another speaker was Hadi Ameri, who is the chairman of Badr organization and reconstruction coalition at the Iraqi parliament said. Ameri said: "During the war on Daesh terrorists, Iran rushed to the help of Iraq and opened its arsenal depots to us when all others were just watching."
Other participants in the gathering included Faleh al-Fayyad, head of Hashd ash-Sha'abi, Iranian Ambassador to Iraq Iraj Masjedi and Mahdi Rabbani, deputy minister of defense and armed forces logistics of Iran.
According to Persia Digest (PD), a group of Hashd al-Shaabi arrived in Khuzestan province of Iran to help flood-hit people there as a sign of appreciation for Iran's role in defeating Daesh terrorists in Iraq.
