(Persia Digest) - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif left New Delhi for Tokyo on an official invitation by his Japanese counterpart.
IRNA reports that Zarif is supposed to meet Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Thursday to discuss bilateral ties as well as regional and international issues.
Earlier, the Iranian foreign minister had visited Russia, Turkmenistan, and India in a bid to expand the level of cooperation in different fields of mutual interest.
The Iranian foreign minister has also met with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.
The Iranian foreign minister and Turkmen officials discussed various bilateral, regional and international developments.
During this tour of India, Zarif conferred with his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj on outstanding issues.
Zarif also met with Ajit Kumar Doval, the National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of India and discussed security issues between two countries.
