(Persia Digest) – An official of the Ministry of Sport and Youth of Iran has announced that a ‘Marriage Charity has started work across Iran.

Deputy Director of Youth Affairs at the Ministry, Mohammad-Mahdi Tondguyan, commented on the schedule of Marriage Week in Iran by saying: “Simple wedding ceremonies take place every year during this week and we will proceed as scheduled.”

Speaking about the ‘Marriage Charity, he said: “The members and benefactors of this charity work towards providing the cost of marriages and dowry for young couples to start their lives together. We hope that this work and other measures taken will facilitate conditions for marriages.”

Persia Digest (PD) reports that official figures show a drop in marriages in Iran in recent years. The main reason for this is the rising cost of living, lower purchasing power due to inflations, and rising employment rates.
