(Persia Digest) – Iraq’s Ministry of Interior has announced that the fire in the Iranian-owned Kaleh dairy factory in Karbala has been extinguished, but 25 percent of the factory’s main sections has been completely destroyed.

Firemen were able to put the fire out in five workshops and nine warehouses after several hours. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Citing an informed source, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported that it may have been arson. Iraqi officials have not commented.

Kaleh Dairy is an Iranian company headquartered in Amol, northern Iran. It produces milk and its derivatives like cheese, butter, yoghurt, and doogh. Kaleh Dairy has sixteen production lines and a large share of the Iranian dairy market.

The factory in Karbala was one of the most active dairy lines in Iraq.
