(Persia Digest) - Official statistics from the Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade indicate that 121,400 saloon cars were produced in April and May this year, showing a 41.9 percent drop YOY.

In the months of April and May last year, 208,800 cars were manufactured in Iran.

Car prices in Iran have also risen by more than 100 percent over the past year, the reason for which is cited as reduced supply in the market by experts.

The main reason for the decline in car production is the lack of imported parts due to sanctions.
