(Persia Digest) – A spy series broadcast on Iranian state TV has confirmed an 8-year old claim of assassination by Israel of an IRGC commander.
Persia Digest (PD) reports that a spy series called Gando is currently being broadcast on Iranian state TV. It tells a story in its latest episode which had long been refuted by Iran’s official sources.
The new episode pertains to the martyrdom of Hassan Tehrani Moghaddam which is narrated by an Iranian intelligence officer: “At first, we thought the Bid Kaneh explosion was an accident; but, two years’ later, we found out from documents published in WikiLeaks that a spy called Rahmat Vali had infiltrated the base as an employee and carried out the terrorist operation on orders from the Americans and Mossad with help from the MEK terrorist group.”
Hassan Tehrani Moghaddam is known as the father of Iran’s missile program. He was martyred along with a number of his colleagues in the IRGC in the 2011 explosion. At the time, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak claimed that Mossad had carried out the attack.
But IRGC’s PR officer Commander Ramezan Sharif and former MP Commander Mohammad-Esmaeil Kosari who is currently deputy commander at the Sarallah operational base in Tehran refuted the claim.
Nevertheless, in 2016, martyr Hassan Tehrani Moghaddam’s brother Mohammad Tehrani Moghaddam said on the anniversary of his brother’s martyrdom that a terrorism crime had been the cause of his brother’s death.
Presently, by referring to WikiLeaks documents, a series on Iranian state TV has confirmed this. It remains to be seen how civil and military officials in Iran will react to it.
