(Persia Digest) – Based on an agreement reached between Iranian and Syrian officials, an Iranian brand of car called ‘Shaam’ [Damascus] will be manufactured in Syria.
An MoU has been signed between the Iranian and Syrian ministers of Labor and Social Affairs, Mohammad Shariatmadari and Rima Qadiri.
On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, the Syrian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Rima Qadiri, said: “Car manufacturer suffered great losses during the war in Syria, but we have tried to return these to production and keep the automotive industry alive in the country. Presently, an Iranian production line is working in Syria.”
Joint 5-year projects between the two countries in welfare and technical and vocational training will also be pursued according to this MoU. A comprehensive study of future job markets, exchange of workforce, and participation in rebuilding Syria will also continue until sustainable peace is reached.
Based on the MoU, Syria can use skilled Iranian experts for its reconstruction program.
