(Persia Digest) – Iran will be setting up a China desk to increase exports of its handwoven carpets to China.

The head of the Iran National Carpet Center announced that a desk will be set up at the center for every county, saying: “This is aiming to find new markets for the export of handwoven Persian carpets.”

Fereshteh Dastpak stated that a target to increase exports is the revival of the Chinese market for Persian carpets, adding: “Handwoven carpets made in China have been on a declining trend, providing an opportunity for the export Iranian carpets to this country.”

Persia Digest (PD) reports that Iran was the world’s biggest exporter of handwoven carpets in 2017.
