(Persia Digest) – An Iranian source has said: “Investigation has begun into the British oil tanker incident Stena Impero breaching international maritime laws."

CEO of the Ports and Maritime Organization of Hormozgan Province, Allah-Morad Afifipour, added: “The British oil tanker was involved in an accident with a fishing boat as it traveled from the Strait of Hormuz towards Al Jubayl Port in Saudi Arabia.”

He reiterated: “After receiving reports on the tanker breaching maritime laws and not answering radio calls, the IRGC naval force directed the British oil tanker to Bandar Abbas Port in Hormozgan Province for investigations by experts.”

Afifipour added: “The crew are still on board for security reasons. They may be called for technical interviews based on requests by the judicial authorities if necessary.”
