(Persia Digest) – Team Melli striker, Mahdi Taremi, has joined the Portuguese Rio Ave FC and put an end to rumors of his return to Persepolis FC.
Rumors had also been flying around about him joining Belgian and Greek teams, but Taremi eventually decided on Portugal.
Rio Ave is one of the Portuguese Premier League teams which ranked seven on the country’s league table.
Mahdi Taremi took the title of the most goal scorer twice in Iran’s premier league playing for Persepolis. He signed a contract with Rizespor in Turkey a number of years ago which created many problems for Persepolis, leading FIFA to ban it from two transfer windows. Taremi was also banned from matches for four months. He left Persepolis to join Al Gharafa FC when the ban was lifted.
He is currently a Team Melli member with 19 goals in his portfolio.
