(Persia Digest) – A new plan is being implemented in Iran whereby low-income families will be able to go to the movies for free.
Persia Digest (PD) reports that the plan is called “Movies with us” in support of families with lower incomes. It is being implemented by Azadi cineplex in association with Hamyari Charity.
The first showing took place on Wednesday 24 July when a group of children supported by Ilia Charity were able to watch a movie at Azadi cineplex.
The movies are selected to entertain and carry a positive message for the audience.
“Movies with us” began by identifying credible charities. In the next step, groups supported by these charities are introduced to movie theaters where they can watch movies free of charge.
“Movies with us” devotes a matinee to these groups on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays every week. The number of sessions will be increased on demand.
It is noteworthy that a poll carried out on February 2018 showed that 30.2 percent of Iranians have never been to the movies.
