(Persia Digest) – The Minister of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics of Iran has said: “The Armed Forces operate according to schedule, including the testing of missiles.”

Speaking on the sidelines of today’s cabinet meeting, Brigadier General Amir Hatami answered a question on missiles by saying: “Research programs of the Armed Forces are planned and implemented annually.”

He said: “This is the norm around the world. Those who work on certain media issues pursue their own goals. But the agenda of the Iranian Armed Forces, including missile tests, are implemented on time.”

In response to the news of joint military drills between the IR of Iran and Russia, the Minister said: “No date has been set yet, but Russia is our friend.”

Persia Digest (PD) reports that CNN on Thursday 25 July quoted a US source by saying that Iran had tested a medium range ballistic missile.

An informed source at the Headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces told the semi-official Fars News Agency: “Iran is entitled to test missiles for its normal defense requirements. The IR of Iran’s missile program is entirely defensive and will not be used against any countries.”
