(Persia Digest) – Iran’s Chief of Traffic Police has said that the Pride car will be discontinued as from 2020. This has been Iran’s best-selling brand of car.

According to Commander Seyed Kamal Hadianfar, 34 percent of people who lost their lives in road accidents over the past 11 years were Pride drivers and passengers.

Hadianfar stated that Pride has safety issues, adding: “Since the car manufacturers, SAIPA, had sold out in 2019 and had to deliver, the car will be discontinued from 2020. We will stop issuing number plates until it is replaced by a more secure car.

Persia Digest (PD) reports that the news has been announced after numerous organizations have repeatedly highlighted the importance of updating safety regulations at SAIPA or putting a stop to issuing number plates.
