Persia Digest (PD) reports, the British seized Grace 1 in the Strait of Gibraltar on 4 July carrying two million barrels of oil under pretext that it was breaking the sanctions imposed on Syria. Iran called it an act of piracy. The Iranian President addressed the British by saying: “You are the initiators of insecurity in the Persian Gulf and you will understand the consequences later.” A few days later, a British oil tanker breaking maritime laws was seized in the Persian Gulf by the IRGC.

Iran stated that the British tanker was navigating in the opposite direction in the Strait of Hormuz and had turned off its GPS, paying no heed to warnings.
