(Persia Digest) – The Governor of Tehran has said that busking is not considered an act of beggary, adding: “Buskers can receive the required licenses to perform from the Ministry of Islamic Guidance in coordination with Tehran Governorate.

Anoushirvan Mohseni Bandpay continued: “Busking has created happiness on the streets and is good for people’s morale.”

He said: “Young people can express their opinions and receive their license from the Governorate to make it legal.”

Persia Digest (PD) reports that busking has taken off in Tehran over the past few years near underground stations. This makes passersby forget the hubbub and daily chores for a while and stop to enjoy the music for a moment. The buskers are mainly young talented musicians who make a living in this way. Some are great performers who are unable to find a venue or are unable to stage a concert for financial reasons.
