(Persia Digest) – Handicraft exports from Guilan Province in northern Iran show a 47 percent rise. Its customers are mainly Europeans.
The CEO of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of Iran, Shahroud Amir Entekhabi, told IRNA: “The customers of Guilan's traditional arts and crafts are European, Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian countries.”
According to him, around two million dollars’ worth of handicrafts was exported from Guilan in 2018. This figure is forecast to be higher this year.
Its main handicrafts include kilim, zilu, wicker products, textiles, wooden furniture, pottery and ceramics, traditional glassware, and wood carvings.
Over 24 thousand artisans work in the handicrafts sector in Guilan Province.
