(Persia Digest) - The 5th National Kebab Festival in Iran will be held in Bonab, northwestern Iran, from 20-23 August.

As in the previous four editions, handicraft stands will also be setup for artisans to exhibit and sell their works.

Persia Digest (PD) reports that kebab dishes are the best and most-loved in the Middle East, especially Iran. Red meat, minced meat, lamb, or mutton are used for the dish.

Iran has a selection of kebabs. The city of Bonab in East Azarbaijan is especially famous for its kebabs. Bonab kebab is made with fresh lamb and is much larger than the usual minced meat kebab. Bonab kebab has been inscribed as an intangible cultural heritage of Iran. The city has a population of 140 thousand and 200 kebab houses.
