(Persia Digest) - Team Iran has claimed its first victory in the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup, after defeating Group N rival, Angola 71-62.

Press TV reports that in a classification round match-up between Iran and Angola, the towering Iranians had a rather sloppy ball-play up to half-time, which yielded 11 turnovers, and a 29 to 28 on the scoresheet in favor of Angola. But it was a different story from then on, as Iran took a 4-point advantage in the third quarter, before routing the 11-time African champions in the final quarter 23-17. Samad Nikkhah Bahrami shot the lights out with 5 out of 6 shots from the outside, scoring a total 21 points to lead Iran to Victory. Carlos Morais bagged 17 points for Angola.

Iran will next meet the Philippines on Sunday.
