(Persia Digest) – The international referee of Iranian football, Alireza Faghani, will emigrate to Australia with his family, although he intends to continue refereeing as an Iranian.

Persia Digest (PD) reports that Alireza Faghani who was the referee of the 2018 World Cup in Russia will be leaving for Australia with his family.

He told Fars News in Tehran: “I have been trying to spend more time with my family since the 2018 World Cup in Russia because I have been too busy over the past few years. My children were interested in studying abroad, so I applied and received my Australian citizenship. My children’s higher education is my priority. If possible, I will also continue my work. Up until now, I have sacrificed my family for my work, but I will put them first now.”

Faghani underlined: “If I am invited to referee international matches, I will do so as Iran’s representative. The President of the Iranian Football Federation has also agreed to my request.”

He will work as a referee in the Australian League.

His most important matches have been the Asian Champions League final 2014, 2015 AFC Asian Cup final, 2015 FIFA Club World Cup final, 2016 Rio Olympics final, 2017 FIFA  Confederations Cup semifinals, etc.
