(Persia Digest) – The Acting General Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has met with the Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Ali-Akbar Saleh, in Iran.
Cornel Feruta arrived in Tehran for discussions with top Iranian authorities and will be meeting with Foreign Minister Javad Zarif today.
Iran’s permanent ambassador to the IAEA, Kazem Gharibabadi, said that the meeting is part of the interactions currently underway between Iran and the agency within the framework of high-level discussions between the two parties.
The IAEA Acting General Director has traveled to Tehran as Iran takes its third step to reduce its obligations under the JCPOA (following the unilateral withdrawal of the US from the 2015 JCPOA nuclear deal in May 2018).
The IAEA Board of Governors will meet tomorrow, Monday, to discuss Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.
The 16th IAEA report was published on Friday, 30 August 2019, confirming Iran’s commitment to the JCPOA as in the previous 15 reports.
