(Persia Digest) – One of the leading candidates in the 2020 US election, Senator Bernie Sanders, has posted a tweet in response to Donald Trump’s comments on the attack on Aramco oil facilities and the US being ‘locked and loaded’, saying: “Mr. Trump, the Constitution of the United States is perfectly clear. Only Congress—not the president—can declare war. And Congress will not give you the authority to start another disastrous war in the Middle East just because the brutal Saudi dictatorship told you to.”
Persia Digest (PD) reports that US President Donald Trump tweeted his stance on Sunday on the drone attacks by Yemen on Saudi Arabia’s oil facilities, claiming: “Saudi Arabia oil supply was attacked. There is reason to believe that we know the culprit, are locked and loaded depending on verification, but are waiting to hear from the Kingdom as to who they believe was the cause of this attack, and under what terms we would proceed!”
After drone attacks by the Yemen on Saudi oil facilities, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo pointed the finger of accusation at Iran.
Iranian Foreign Minister, Javad Zarif, responded by tweeting: “Having failed at "max pressure", Sec Pompeo's turning to "max deceit". US & its clients are stuck in Yemen because of illusion that weapon superiority will lead to military victory. Blaming Iran won't end disaster. Accepting our April '15 proposal to end war & begin talks may.”
